D&A Policy

• Shipping Companies shall establish procedures in line with STCW requirements.
• Shipping Companies operating tanker vessels shall establish procedures in line with STCW requirements as well as OCIMF guidelines.

D&A Tests

• Have pre-employment D&A test been conducted for all seafarers on board?
  
• Are the unannounced D&A tests being conducted at intervals established by Company Policy?
• Are unannounced alcohol tests being conducted on board by Master?
• Are unannounced alcohol tests being conducted on board by Company?
• Are unannounced D&A tests being conducted either by external agency on board or specimens being forwarded to them?
• Is the blood alcohol concentration equal or less than 0.05%?
• Is the alcohol in breath equal or less than 0.25 mg/L?

Special Recommendations by OCIMF

• Is Alcohol Meter calibrated and certified?
• Does the Alcohol Meter print-out the date of test, the instrument name and serial number?
• Is a unique number assigned to each test?
