Inspection

  • Is the ALDIS lamp ready for immediate use?
  • Is the lamp able to be operated by both power from ship main and rechargeable battery?
  • Is the reflective panel free of cracks?
  • Are there three (3) spare bulbs available?
  • Is the battery kept charged?
  • Is the date of battery replacement recorded / marked?
  • Is the battery voltage being checked at regular intervals?
  • Is the lamb clearly marked with manufacturer ID, model, serial number, voltage and power consumption? 

Common Poor Practices

  • The ALDIS lamp was not ready for immediate use.
  • Only two spare bulbs were available.
  • The battery was not charged.
  • The reflective panel had signs of crack.
  • Power outlets located in bridge wings found out of order.
  • Power outlet's cup found frozen.
