Visual verification of water ballast surface for oil contamination

• This is a requirement in case of water ballast tank adjacent to oil cargo tanks or their pipelines running into them.
• The water surface should be sighted from ballast tank's hatch coaming and NOT by removing the manhole cover.
• A sampling pipe must be used in order to pick-up sample from Fore Peak Tank.
• Water ballast verification must be recorded in CCR Log Book or/and Bridge Log Book.
