Hypothermia

Is the crew familiar with the problems of hypothermia and its treatment?
Symptoms
- The patient becomes apathetic.
- The patient loses interest in survival.
- Heat loss from the head is greater than arms and legs.
- The feeling of cold replaces warmth at body temperature below 34°C.
- Loss of consciousness at 32°C.
Treatment
- Replace wet clothing with dry one.
- Put the patient on a Thermal Protective Aid.
- Keep the patient lying and if possible with another healthy person using body heat.
- Do not give alcohol but only warm water.
