Inspection

• Are the bridge order book entries made by the Master at least daily when the vessel is underway and at anchor?
• Is the bridge order book used in addition to Master's Standing Orders at both sea and anchor?
• Is the comment ''Read & Understood'' being written beside every Bridge Officer's signature?

Common Poor Practices

• The instructions are part of existing Standing Orders. Actually, the book is used in order to supplement the Standing Orders or in case the Master would like to draw Officers' attention to these standard instructions.
• It is written by bridge Officers instead of Master.
• Generic and repeated instructions should be avoided which it gives the impression of copy-paste process.
  
• The orders are limited to night time.
• The book was not recorded on daily basis.
