All crew shall be familiar with:

  • Their duties as per Station Bill.
  • General alarms and call points locations.
  • Portable fire extinguishers use and what types are available on board.
  • Foam applicator use.
  • Fixed fire fighting systems operation such as CO2, high & low expansion foam, water mist, sprinkler, water spray and how many types are available on board.
  • Main & Emergency fire pumps locations (bridge, foam room, local etc).
  • Ventillation shut locations and which spaces they serve.
  • Breathing apparatus & EEBD donning. The SCBA is used for firefighting, while EEBD is used for escape only.
  • Fire plans locations.
  • Oxygen resuscitation equipment use.
  • Emergency generator operation by all available methods.
  • Emergency steering gear.
  • PPE wearing requirements.
  • Immersion suit & lifejacket donning. 
  • Lifeboats (launching, recovering, manoeuvering, engine start by all available methods, equipment, capacity etc).
  • Rescue boat location and what are the differences with lifeboat. For instance, rescue boat contains additionals immersion suits and the recovery system is faster.
  • Inflatable liferafts operation.
  • EPIRB, SART and portable VHF use.
  • Line Throwing Apparatus use as well as quantity and location.
  • Pyrotechnics use and location.
  • Hypothermia issues.
  • Precautions for use of LSA in severe weather & sea condition. 
  • Gas measurement equipment use for enclosed space entry purpose.
  • CPR techniques.
  • Stretcher use.
  • Emergency Towing Arrangements.
  • Anti-pollution equipment use.
  • Helicopter equipment.
